Fantasy Roleplaying – A Registry of Rules Review

This review originally appeared on neuronphaser.com, and has been moved here for archival purposes.

Fantasy Roleplaying: A Registry of Rules by Blackwing Productions (Jeremy Puckett’s publishing company) is a fantastic supplement for a woefully under-appreciated game line. It provides a full complement of add-ons and some tweaks to re-balance core materials for different play styles, effectively creating a “complete” experience in Cortex Plus Fantasy Heroic Roleplaying: you’ve got all the core tenants of D&D gaming, including large-scale warfare, domain rulership, naval combat, and a ton of new character races and classes.

Rating: Content 5/5 and Form 4/5.

Firefly Roleplaying Game: Serenity Adventures Conversions for Ghosts of the Rebellion

Reposted from neuronphaser.com

Serenity Adventures featured a handful of adventure scenarios for the Serenity Roleplaying Game published using the older version of the Cortex system (Cortex Classic) well before the new Firefly Roleplaying Game was released. In planning to run a few of the scenarios out of that book, I figured it’d be shiny to release my GMC and Boat conversions to the world for use with the Firefly Roleplaying Game.

In this article, I’ve posted the stats for the NPCs and boats featured in the adventure “Ghosts of the Rebellion.”

Firefly Roleplaying Game Trait List Index and Game Master Screen

Here are some useful reference sheets for the Firefly Roleplaying Game.

Monster Index for Cortex Plus Heroic Roleplaying

Jeremy Puckett of Blackwing Productions really championed the Fantasy Heroic hack in the Cortex Plus Hacker’s Guide by releasing two supplements with additional monsters, classes, mechanics, and more. In fact, he pioneered licensing out the Cortex system, which turned into the Cortex Creator Studio Program on DriveThruRPG.

Here’s a PDF that organizes all of the monsters in both the Cortex Plus Hacker’s Guide and Fantasy Roleplaying: An Omnibus of Opponents for easy reference when building your own encounters and scenarios.

Character Sheets and Cheat Sheets for Head Shot: the Zombie Apocalypse Cortex Hack

If you haven’t checked out my zombie apocalypse action-horror hack Head Shot! for the Cortex roleplaying game system, you haven’t truly experienced my love for zombie action-survival cinema. The intent is for it to mix The Walking Dead with Evil Dead: hopeless, but with an irreverent silliness.

Anyway, here’s a bunch of resources for the game.

Cortex Prime SRD Update! If you already purchased Head Shot, this 8-page update to Cortex Prime and a sheet with the entire (Prime-updated) text of all Talents is available in your Library at DriveThruRPG! These tools should make playtesting Cortex Prime very easy, as well as make character creation much easier since you don’t have to cross-reference the Talents with any other source.
