It’s heeeeeeeeeere! DD-01 The Darkness Beneath Dalentown for 5th Edition is finally out! Completely rebuilt and featuring new art and maps!
Check it out:
The Darkness originally launched as a Swords & Wizardry compatible adventure for Original Edition Appreciation Day, and quickly garnered high marks and sold well enough for writers Matthew and I to consider expanding the settlement that forms the homebase for this dungeoncrawl. Shortly thereafter was born Adventures in Dalentown for 5th Edition, covering not only the original Dalentown settlement, but adding two additional ones, tons of story seeds of intrigue, action, and slice-of-life in a fantasy world, plus new monsters, player character backgrounds, factions, and more.
Finally, we’re here: we’ve completely rebuilt The Darkness Beneath Dalentown for the 5th edition of the world’s most popular fantasy roleplaying game. With that rebuild, we not only sourced tons of monsters from OGL releases like Kobold Press’ Tome of Beasts and Creature Codex, Inkwell Ideas’ 5E Creature Decks, and others, but we’ve also updated some monsters from OSR resources ourselves. Encounters are built with 5E monster strategies in mind, and perhaps best of all, we’re offering three distinct layouts that you can see below!
- A standard, two-column 8.5 x 11 version of the complete adventure, plus appendices for magic items, monsters, and random books in an arcane library, all useful in any campaign.
- A one-column 6×9 layout that’s just the text plus the maps, no illustrations. Perfect for using on your phone, tablet, or e-reader.
- A landscape “visual” layout version that presents each dungeon level on a single page with the full text of all encounters. Perfect for widescreen monitor use. You’ll have to reference the appendices from the 8.5×11 or 6×9 versions separately, or just print out those pages for the gaming table.
You can pick up DD-01 The Darkness Beneath Dalentown for 5th Edition here via Gumroad right on our site, or choose itch.io or DriveThruRPG so you can have this adventure in whatever library your prefer using!
